Ahead of the start of the 2022 academic year, incoming students from Korea's leading arts and science universities will meet for the first time and experience the convergence of art and science for the first time.

Korea National University of Arts (President Daejin Kim), together with KAIST, will host the '2022 K-ARTS X KAIST Freshman Video Camp' from Monday, February 14th to Monday, February 21st.

The program is based on the signing of a business agreement on January 6 between KAIST and K-Arts to support the expansion of cooperation in the convergence of arts and technology.

The camp, which will be held for the first time this year, will take place from February 14th to 21st at the Korea National University of Arts, Seokgwan Campus, School of Film, TV & Multimedia. A total of 36 freshmen students from KAIST and K-Arts will participate in the camp, which will promote media literacy and creativity in convergence art and high-tech content collaboration through creative lectures and team-based workshops for video and game production.

"With the development of advanced contents such as metaverse and virtual reality, the convergence between art and science is becoming more important than ever, but there is a lack of creative exchange between the talents underlying it," said Sngmoo Lee , director of K-Arts Art & Technology Lab (professor of Filmmaking in School of Film, TV & Multimedia), who planned and organized the event. "Through team work to plan and produce video works and games together, we aim to provide a place for voluntary and creative exchange between art and science talents.“

Meanwhile, AT Lab is a creation and production laboratory that aims to converge science and technology, cultural arts, industry, and education, and its works, such as the fusion virtual reality works <Scarecrow> and <Rain Fruits,> have been invited to the world's leading-edge film festivals such as Sundance Film Festival, South by Southwest (SXSW), Tribeca, and Cannes Film Festival XR, and have won numerous major awards, and are leading global trends in realistic media, advanced medical care, and artificial intelligence content through collaborations with leading domestic and foreign companies and research institutes such as LG U+, SKT, and TikTok. In 2021, he was selected as a 'Leading Graduate School for Culture and Technology' by the Korea Creative Content Agency, and is working with Pohang University of Technology to build a content metaverse utilizing artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
