The Future of Tech-Art:

Where Technology Meets Human Emotion

  K-ARTS and KAIST Co-host ‘G-Artience 2025 Connecting Week’

  -  AT Lab Presents Case Studies on Emotion-Driven Convergent Content and Art-Psychology Experiments

The Korea National University of Arts (K-ARTS, President Pyun Jang-wan) showcased a profound vision for the "Future of Tech-Art"—a synergy of science, technology, and culture—during the 'G-Artience 2025 Connecting Week' held from November 17 to 18 at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) and Wip Square.

■ Redefining Technology: From a ‘Tool’ to a ‘Language’

Participants from K-ARTS presented a paradigm shift, viewing technology not merely as a functional tool but as a new linguistic medium for art.

  ● Professor Cho Chungyean (School of Film, TV&Multimedia) delivered a "Vision Lecture" on November 18, highlighting future-oriented storytelling that integrates technology with human

sensibility. Through case studies on VR, AI, and XR-based convergence content and art-psychology experiments, he emphasized, "AI is evolving beyond a tool that mimics humans to become a

partner that expands the horizons of human perception."

  ● Kang Seung-pyo, Team Leader of the Art & Technology Lab (AT Lab), spoke at the "Masters 10 Talk" session. Focusing on films produced with Generative AI, he addressed the evolving role of

the artist and the contemporary discourse surrounding AI.

  ● Woo Ha-jung, a student researcher, proposed an experimental convergence education model that explores the boundaries between humanity and AI emotional intelligence, posing the

provocative question: "Can Artificial Intelligence truly measure emotion?"

■ A Bridge Between Policy, Industry, and Art

An official from the G-Artience 2025 Organizing Committee stated, "G-Artience 2025 serves as a stage to demonstrate how cultural technology acts as a bridge connecting life, industry, art, and policy. This event marks the first gathering where industrial, cultural, and technological policies converge under a single theme, serving as a turning point for human-centric digital transformation and the creation of a creative industrial ecosystem."

■ Global Leadership in Convergent Arts

K-ARTS operates AT Lab, a creative research institute dedicated to the fusion of science, culture, industry, and education. AT Lab has consistently proven its global creative caliber, with works such as Scarecrow and Rain Fruits being invited to and winning awards at prestigious festivals including Sundance, Cannes, and Tribeca.

Following the selection of Fly To You at SXSW in March and the "Best Immersive Theatre" win for Scarecrow: Rekindle at the Raindance Film Festival in June, the lab’s recent invitation to the Venice Film Festival further solidifies K-ARTS' position as a world leader in convergence arts education.
