Scarecrow H, a convergent metaverse performance produced by the Art & Technology (AT) Lab at the Korea National University of Arts (President Kim Dae-jin, hereinafter K-ARTS), will make its domestic premiere for the general public from Monday, November 15 to Sunday, November 28* at the Design Museum located on the 2nd floor of the DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza) in Seoul.

 Ticket Reservation: https://m.booking.naver.com/booking/12/bizes/605594/items/4159392

Note: Closed on Monday, November 22.

Co-directed by Professor Lee Seung-moo (School of Film, TV & Multimedia) and Director Jeong Ji-hyun, this project is Korea's first hybrid metaverse performance that reimagines two critically acclaimed predecessors: Scarecrow, a virtual reality convergent performance that was a major highlight at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, earning accolades from international media like Forbes as "ahead of its time" and "one of the most vivid digital experiences," and Scarecrow VRC, which won three international awards, including Best Immersive Media at the Raindance Film Festival, the Breakthrough in Storytelling Award from Columbia University’s Digital Storytelling Lab (DSL), and Best Technical Innovation at the Sandbox Immersive Festival in Beijing. Invited by LG U+, the world premiere will be unveiled at the Unfold X Corporate Pavilion, hosted by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.

Professor Lee Seung-moo, the creator of the project, stated:

"As Mark Zuckerberg noted, 'the best way to understand the metaverse is to experience it yourself.' Beyond the empty discourse that has surrounded the concept, this advanced performance will offer a meaningful opportunity for audiences to directly experience the metaverse as a new frontier for artistic creation and to glimpse its infinite possibilities."

The K-ARTS AT Lab is a production-led research center that aims to integrate science, technology, culture, art, industry, and education. Its convergent VR works, including Scarecrow and Rain Fruits, have been consecutively invited to major global cutting-edge media festivals—such as the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW (South by Southwest), Tribeca, and Cannes XR—winning multiple major awards. Through collaborations with leading domestic and international corporations and research institutes, such as LG U+ and TikTok, the lab is leading global trends in immersive media, advanced medical tech, and AI content. In 2021, the lab was selected for the Korea Creative Content Agency’s 'Leading Cultural Technology Graduate School' project, and is currently conducting research with POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) on building a content metaverse utilizing artificial intelligence and augmented/virtual reality.
